What is Breast Augmentation?
Breast Augmentation (Clinically referred to as augmentation mammaplasty) is the surgical placement of breast implants to increase fullness and projection of the breast or to improve symmetry of the breasts.

What types of Breast Implants are there?
There are two types of Breast Implants; Saline and Silicone.
Saline Implants
Saline Implants are made of medical grade, biocompatible, textured or smooth silicone shells filled with sterile saline solution. Should the implant rupture or leak, the saline is safely absorbed by the body and poses no health hazard. Implants may be pre-filled prior to placement, or slowly filled at the time of surgery through a self-sealing valve.
How Long Will the Surgery Take?
Breast Augmentation is an Out Patient Procedure where patients undergo General Anesthesia for approximately 2 hours (this varies from case to case). Patients who have breast augmentation surgery should plan on arriving one hour before surgery and stay in recovery for about an hour following the surgery and must have a ride home from the surgery center.
How Long Will I Need To Recover?
Recover time varies from patient to patient, but at a minimum dedicate 5-7 days for resting with very little physical activity, then gradual resumption of normal activity. Most patients will feel like themselves again within 10 to 14 days post-surgery, at which time light exercise may be resumed. Strenuous exercise and upper body lifting can be resumed in four to six weeks.
